WHO WE ARE
Our founder - Sophia Atadana - did her research on spousal abuse in her final year in Central University, Ghana. She wanted to fine out if the domestic violence law is working and if there is any kind of support for victims. This led to her understanding better at the time what she was going through in her own marriage.
Being a survivor of spousal abuse has put her in a better position to be able to help make victims free especially mentally from the adverse effects of abuse and the kind of support systems that will truly help victims. This led to the establishment of Bendoweh Foundation.
She did not only found Bendoweh Foundation on humanitarian grounds but also recognizes it as her purpose on earth. It is one thing to observe, read or hear about an issue and it is another thing to experience that very problem or issue and how to overcome it. She is a survivor of spousal abuse and so she knows and understands what it means to be abused in marriage.
"This is why I am now helping other women and educating the youth on what I wish I knew about abuse before I married".
